As I mentioned before I have met some very unique and great people while living in San Antonio. My friend Joana Martinez is one of them. I first met Joana in high school when I was a freshman and she was a sophomore. We had ROTC together and she already had this strong determination and focus to do well in everything she did. Only a few people had this type of quality especially in high school. Normally a person does not really become focused on their future goals until maybe their senior year of high school or even in college. She already knew she wanted to join the Army and become an officer. Over the years she became very focused on fitness and boxing while being in the Army. I recently asked her what motivated her into becoming focused on fitness . Her response was " I was fat and the army told to fix my shit". She always wanted to be better than her past self and wanted to keep improving physically. She states " the military gave me the discipline I needed to stay on track. It gave me courage and I knew that I could do anything". Joana stated that her favorite workout routine was the battle ropes.
When Joana is not exercising or working she is teaching. She states " When I'm not exercising I'm teaching the sweet science to my youth boxing class at UFC gym". She always shows a positive attitude that can be very contagious which the world definitely needs right now. Having friends that are positive and goal oriented can defiantly enhance your life. She involves herself in activities that make her happy and keeps her focused. The main goal is to stay positive and be happy with yourself. Conversations with Joana can leave a lasting impression which is defiantly a good thing to have.
