Makayla: The spirit of a Wolf

I have met many talented and creative people over the years but one cosplayer always surprises me with her unique makeup style. Her name is Makayla Rodriguez and cosplay is in her DNA. I wanted to understand what drove her creativity and why she got into cosplay.

"I’ve always wanted to cosplay. As someone who loves dressing up for Halloween being able to do it anytime was a no brainer!" Makayla stated with excitement. Over time Makayla has come up with different cosplays so I wondered which one was her personal favorite. "My favorite cosplay would have to be my first cosplay and that is BeastGirl. My genderbent version of Beastboy".

Makayla used her talent to create her own business and to share her art with others. I wanted to know if she had a name for her business or a way to reach her. "MacTire Makeup FX is the name of my company. Mac-tire in Gaelic actually means wolf and I love wolves" she explained. This name represented her spirit and connection to her passion. With the current pandemic I wondered how this had affected her business and if changes were made.

Makayla stated "Covid has put me out of work for the time being due to makeup being a very in your face profession. I’ve had to temporarily withdraw myself from makeup application on others. Though I now have time to work on my website and a short film I have in the works". Makayla continues to stay busy and focus her energy on other projects as well as dealing with life itself. She continues to push forward and stay positive. She truly has the spirit of a wolf and creativity.
