Over the years I have met many wonderful and unique cosplayers here in Texas. Tyler Bishop is a very talented cosplayer and awesome friend. I always wondered what drew Tyler into cosplay and his reasoning. "I actually bought my first costume as a Halloween costume I had planned on just wearing for the next 5 Halloween’s because of how pricy it was haha, but I was approached by a guy wanting to add me to a team that did hospital visits, charity events, etc and that took me from just buying a costume and launched me into this world of Cosplay". Cosplay brought him into a unique world.
I was curious how cosplay had impacted his relationship with his wife. Tyler stated "Her and I actually knew each other like 15 years ago when we both worked at Sea World, and it was Cosplay that brought us back into each other’s lives so I’d honestly say if it wasn’t for Cosplay I probably wouldn’t have (re)met my wife, and now it’s a great hobby that we share and it’s allowed us to meet some incredible people and have awesome friendships as well as adventures that have taken us across the country". It is amazing what happens to us when we least expect it.
While cosplay has a huge impact on his life I had wondered what did he usually do for fun or in his spare time. "Yard work, or as my wife would say “planning to do stuff to the yard but never actually doing anything.” Replaying The Witcher 3 for the 150th time, and more recently I’ve reignited my love of history. I’ve been diving back into that as well as mythology.
I wanted to know what advice would he give to new cosplayers. "My advice would be to find a character you’re passionate about and then just run with it! When you have that connection to the character you can do no wrong with your costume, and while you craft said cosplay each time you finish a part or see something come together it starts to hype you up way more and that feeling is like no other. Also just have fun with your friends, Cosplay is cool on its own, but with a great group of friends it’s a badass time". It was great to hear from Tyler and to hear his passion for it. His wife Ally Bishop is a well known cosplayer in Texas as well. Cosplay is a fun world but it is even better when you have wonderful friends to share it with.
