When I started my cosplay journey 3 years ago I would have never imagined I would meet talented and creative people within Texas. The cosplay community has grown significantly and I have had the privilege of becoming friends with the talented Yeraly(Yerah). I wanted to get into her mind and find out how she got into the cosplay world.

"The freedom of expression, to be able to do what others consider unimaginable, to become our favorite characters and enjoy the reaction of wonder from children and adults alike when they see that we brought their favorite characters to life" Yerah explained with excitement.

I wanted to know which character inspired her and why. Yerah stated

a character that greatly inspires me is Impa from Hyrule Warriors because of how easily she can portray an incredibly strong, beautiful, graceful yet relaxed and comfortable character all at once. I would love to embody her style one day. She’s definitely on my top cosplay plans!

The biggest mystery I always wanted know was "how do you balance cosplay and being a parent"

Children come first, always. But with the support of my older kids and husband we can always communicate and arrange to spare some time to have fun and cosplay. It all comes down to communication".

Seeing how Yerah is able to pull off some of the toughest and in shape characters I wanted to know what motivates Yeraly and her husband Terrell to stay in shape:

Cosplay! Hahaha definitely cosplay! We want to look fit and play the part when we embody our characters! But also, a desire to live a long healthy life so that we can be there for our loved ones for as long as possible.

Yerah gave some great advice for anyone who wants to jump into this world.

First and foremost…HAVE FUN! That’s what cos-PLAY is all about!! 😊 Don’t be afraid to try new things or ask more experienced cosplayers for help/knowledge on areas you might be scared to explore and definitely do NOT let others tell you what you can/can’t do! Only YOU can set limits on yourself!

It was great to hear from her and discuss her pure joy when it comes to cosplay. This passion has become part of her family. Her positive outlook has definitely made the world a better place.
