Andilauren Garcia: Power & Grace

I have been able to meet and talk to people with a unique but positive lifestyle here in San Antonio. Fitness has been the doorway for many people but for Andilauren, fitness has always been apart of her life. Growing up she was involved in different sports and always had a talent for being good in whatever sport she played. Getting into cross fit at the age of 15 was when she was really blown away and truly began her new focus. She was blown away on how much she could learn from cross fit and how exactly the body worked. She stated "I wanted to study fitness and how to better my body and performance". I asked her what exactly was her attraction to cross fit which she explained "My attraction to fitness is kinda like your attraction to a girl or new love. You don't know how exactly it happened or why, it just did. Fitness is something I'm good at and really enjoy learning about".
Her dedication to cross fit, competing and college is something that makes her stand out. Since she was always posting videos or pictures exercising I was curious on what she did on her spare time outside of fitness. "Usually I just hang out with friends and hang out at Barnes & Nobles. I enjoy reading comic books, collecting POPs, and playing video games." If she isn't relaxing then she is working on a physical weakness in the gym. "I'm always down for anything and a super spontaneous girl so sometimes things can get a little different" she explained.
It is not an easy task to balance life and fitness. I asked Andilauren "what advice would you give others" and whether or not it is a challenge. She states" It's never easy starting something new. Especially working out. Sometimes I don't even feel like torturing my body for a few hours because it Sucks!". She explained how after everything there is a feeling of accomplishment. You become proud of yourself for not backing down from a challenge and persevere. "You Prd with a lift or maybe because you did the whole workout RX. There is always something to be proud of" she explained. She expressed that once this positive feeling comes into play you become motivated to keep going and becoming better.
Her advice to others that want to get into fitness or make a positive change is "You have to start somewhere. I can't promise you it will be a walk in the park but I can promise you'll feel better and once working out along with the right eating habits kicks in the results will come in. It takes time and patience but it is all worth it in the end". Andilauren has a focused mind and dedication to cross fit which is to be admired. The advice she gave that many people can take is that "everyone has to start somewhere"
